Recovery Fund Criteria


This fund has been created to provide rapid, direct support to residents, businesses, and community groups affected by the recent flooding in Monmouth.

Eligibility
To qualify for support, applicants must:
• Live, operate an independent business, or run a community group in an identified flood-impacted area within the 5 wards of Monmouth.
• Be on the electoral roll at that address (if applicable). If not, a home visit can be arranged to confirm residence.
• Provide a brief description of the impact and the support needed.

How to Apply
1. Complete the application form.
2. Provide simple cost estimates for items requested (if relevant).
3. Sign and date the declaration page.
4. Return the completed form to Monmouth Town Council or hand it in at the Shire Hall / Humanitarian Hub.

Support Available
• Grants of up to £2,000 are available.
• Support may include essential goods, emergency equipment, replacement items, utility bill support or community response needs.

Assessment Process

Applications will be assessed by the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and the Town Council’s Responsible Finance Officer (RFO). The process is designed to be quick and without unnecessary delay or bureaucracy whilst ensuring that the fund is used to support those in Monmouth impacted by the floods from Storm Claudia. This is a discretionary fund and the decision of the panel processing applications is final.

Storm Claudia – Financial support for Monmouthshire residents

If your home has been flooded by Storm Claudia, you can get up to £1,000 in help.

Monmouthshire County Council is administering the Emergency Financial Assistance Scheme on behalf of the Welsh Government. This financial support provides £500 for households with insurance or £1,000 for households that are not insured.

British Red Cross Cash Support

The British Red Cross has cash support available for people whose properties have been affected by the recent flooding in Monmouthshire.

If your property has been affected by the flooding, you qualify for a minimum of £100 of cash support. Your eligibility will be verified by the local authority.

This support is only available to those that make contact with the British Red Cross before 12 noon Monday 24th November. You can do this by visiting the Humanitarian Assistance Centre at Shire Hall, 3 Agincourt Square, Monmouth NP25 3DY.

Cash will only be provided following verification of eligibility by the Local Authority. You will not be issued with support if we cannot verify that you have been impacted.
